Overview

BSFL contains a variety of nutrients. The nutritional value of dried BSF larvae is up to 50% protein, 35% fat (with an amino acid composition comparable to fishmeal), 6% calcium, 1.2% phosphorus, 1% magnesium, and 0.3% sodium.
As a result, BSF larvae have been identified and exploited as an alternative protein source for chickens, Ducks, Pigs, fish, and Pets.
